Since I haven’t been loudly announcing my presence the past few weeks, I thought I’d share my Sunday morning ritual that I do for my week. I got the idea from Our Lives Experience and my butch Blah. See, it was a picture of a young lady sticking out her tongue with all her meds on it. Must have been 7 pills and though I can’t remember exactly what was said, it translates-in my recollective mind-what I need to survive.
We all have to take pills of some form or another for various reasons. Some are “fortunate” to only need a few a day, while a majority take so many pills we need expensive pill organizers with post-its and timers to make sure we either: A) Don’t die or B) Don’t kill other people. It’s a fact of our lives. Those of us with Chronic and Mental Illness will NEVER get off the Medi-Go-Round of trial and error hell. That’s just fact. I see Dr Kamal Wednesday-HALLELUJER AND PRAISE THE BABY BUDDHA JESUS because I haven’t seen him since August. And you all well know by now the pure emotional hell I’ve been through. I’m sure there will be med changes, part and parcel for my life.
And so, now we come to the “exciting” part of my post where I show my Sunday morning ritual in pictures.
This is how I start my Sunday-pills open and my organizer at the ready.
My med train. Choo choo!
Ready for the week
The joys of Bipolar 1
What’s not included are my pain meds-trying to wean down but this weekend was AWFUL for my pain. I have therapy today at 3, and I’m doing really good. The doc did take my bone spur off and 1 cm from my collar bone. Everything is really tight across the front-where the majority of my surgery was-and I should be 100% in 8-12 weeks. Which means I still won’t be able to work until next year, but my shoulder will be functional. Wahoo! I REALLY need a nap, then a shower. ✌

The messed up thing for me is, using the pill cases makes me mess up my meds worse than winging it from memory. I guess because some pills are twice daily, one is once daily, another is four times daily, another once a day, two at bedtime…I try to get the anti depressant and mood stabilizers right, the rest I wing.
Only I could take a tool meant for organization and turn it into an object of disorganization. It’s a gift.
Glad you’re on the mend. No fun battling for the cereal when you’re at a disadvantage and I have to let you win 😉

You need one of those uber pill cases. Even though mine is for a week, I have 4 sections so it’s overwhelming yet not non effective.
I’m so glad to call you friend even in your disorganized status 💗 That’s love

Great post, awesome pictures – as a gal who takes meds 3x/ day, I relate all too well. (((hugs)))!!!!!! XO

p.s. can you please come and organize my life while I sit on my ass and watch old Scandal episodes? and perhaps impersonate me to family members in town for the week???
SassaFrassTheFeisty said:
It’ll cost you… BIG TIME!
dyane said:
heeee heeeeee! 😉

It’ll cost a month’s worth of orgasmic chocolate hand rolled on the legs of lesbians, as Blah calls it 😉

That looks like so much to take *hugs* (its Kirsty by the way, deleted my old account so having to start again :/) you’re so organised and on the ball. I don’t take any meds but I know people who do and it must be a job to do this all the time so hats off to you!!
SassaFrassTheFeisty said:
Thanks. You should see what my sis and bro in law take… Makes me look like I’m chewing candy!
You just get used to doing it-like having bipolar and being a parent. I don’t know anything else, so I keep plugging away! (I’ll follow asap!)

I hope your shoulder pain subsides, I never had surgery on mine, but did break my clavicle in half (was in cycle accident age15). Never healed correctly even with PT, muscles are pulled from normal ROM, still screwed. LOVE your med post, I’ve wanted to do that same thing. after seeing pic of woman with spoonful of meds to her mouth. I don’t put mine in pill holders, i move my bottles either forward or back to remind myself if i took the 3 dose(s).Sooo I stole your idea. I hope that’s OK? ❤ Hugs Sissy

Perfectly ok with it! DJ broke his collar bone-dirt bike accident-and had a rod put in. Always complained about how he couldn’t hold me because he was always uncomfortable. Now I get it. I haven’t had normal ROM in my right shoulder since my FIRST injury so hopefully this will restore a majority of it!

I like that organizer! And what’s up with that orange pill?!
SassaFrassTheFeisty said:
That was my birth control. Looked like candy didn’t it?!

That picture reminded me of the pills my wife takes on a daily basis. Tough I know – hang in there!
SassaFrassTheFeisty said:
VERY tough, but I keep plugging away! My kids don’t need sad and/or crazy mommy 💗
Anxious Mom said:
I love how organized you are. I take 7 or 8 pills (thanks to the new dose of Lamictal having to be 3 pills) depending on whether I need the ambien, but I’m able to take everything at night so at least there’s that!
I hope your shoulder feels better. Glad to see you posting ❤️

I was super hard and frustrating to keep looking through all the damn med bottles! So glad did got me this.
It’s slowly stretching back out. My PT guy made me use weights! One whole pound! I thought my arm was gonna fall off.
Now I need another nap

I like you pill container. Mine is for a week with 4 containers each, but it is all laid out flat and stuck together. Takes up 2 or 3 times the room yours must. I just got a hold of the med nurse and she is increasing my Cymbalta to 120 and my apt is 12/8. They better figure out what they want to do because this increase will make me run out and not be able to refill.
SassaFrassTheFeisty said:
Dislike on your med issue! Sounds like you might need to try a different med 😞
I’ve seen the flat kind that have 4 spaces and are meant for for a week or longer. Kitt has this amazing organizer called “PillRite” that is badass as far as pill organizers. I don’t nerd something like that but I suggested it to my sis for her and my
Bro in law. It even comes with a travel week organizer, and this cool clip board that you put notes in and list allergies and what-not. $40 on Amazon. They really need something like that!
Tessa said:
right now she is increasing my Cymbalta for now, after the appt who knows what I might be taking. I am definitely not stable any more.
SassaFrassTheFeisty said:
You had alot go on. Finding the ever loving magic cocktail is like looking for the fountain of youth, right? One little thing and poof. I bet it’s your pain that’s not helping 😞 Booooo! Love you
Tessa said:
Pain doesn’t help for sure.
SassaFrassTheFeisty said:
No it doesn’t! My mom is
SassaFrassTheFeisty said:
Oops! Sent before finished. My mom is on Effexor for her pain and depression. It’s helped minutely with the pain but has helped with her depression. Hopefully you get something helpful soon! Love you
Tessa said:
Thanks Sass, love you too! I am on top dose of Cymbalta which is supposed to be hard to stop. Those 2 days I forgot I wanted to be rocket man and out of here. I can hardly wait to see what they try unless the extra Cymbalta helps.
SassaFrassTheFeisty said:
Oh my! Here’s to hoping things get better soon 💗💗💗

I’ve never thought of sharing pictures of my pills. I talk about them often enough (although it occurs to me I really don’t mention the non-psych meds/supplements).
SassaFrassTheFeisty said:
I thought, “Hey! We all talk about our meds, why don’t I share mine?” I think it’s pretty cool how many people have liked and commented on my post. 😎
Andrew said:
I should do that. Every couple days I realize I’ve forgotten to pop my pills for a few days. Hmm…maybe intentional. Glad you are healing up tho so drowsy from the percs. Feel
free to overnight them if you get bored.
SassaFrassTheFeisty said:
I say it’s a combination of both forgetfulness and intentional forgetting. Ha! You’ll have to pry ’em from my cold, dead hands! Maybe I’ll share some if I have any left 😉

Woohoo! Gotta love boarding the med train-Toot Toot!
Undiagnosed Warrior said:
I have the same pill case but different colors AND I also do the same Sunday routine lol
SassaFrassTheFeisty said:
Woohoo! Seems that instead of “relaxing” like normies we are always busying ourselves for the week. If I don’t do it Sunday morning, I’m completely thrown off for the week!
Undiagnosed Warrior said:
Me too or then I accidentally miss or take too much meds. I’m lost without it and I need it to be scheduled because otherwise I confuse myself.
SassaFrassTheFeisty said:
Precisely!! I’m on an every 4 hour schedule. I can tell when I miss by 30 minutes. It’s no bueno

I have the same pill organizer you do. It’s great because i do have a med I take 4 times a day. I also use the alarm feature on my phone to remind me.
